I've discovered a new favorite poet - Marie Howe, the former poet laureate of New York. She read her poems "The Gate," "Hurry" and "Magdalene - the Seven Devils" on a 2014 "On Being" podcast and I fell in love. Her most recent book "Magdalene: Poems" was released in March and is written from the point of view of a contemporary Mary Magdalene who goes about her life and raising a child in present day; amazon.com.
