Pikes Peak Market, 9 S. Weber St., has enjoyed so much success that the market's board of directors has decided to move to a larger space.
"The landlord of the property just around the corner (315 E. Pikes Peak Ave.) was as excited about the opportunity as all of us," said Chris Cipoletti, market manager and member of the board. "We started the market with seven vendors and have expanded to 11 with more and more interest from prospective members. This new space will allow us to add up to 30 to 35 new vendors."
Some offerings under consideration include Argentine empanadas, vegan soul food, charcuterie and fresh meat from grass-fed animals, and maybe a gelato vendor.
"New hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays," Cipoletti said. "And we will continue having the pop-up markets."
The plan is to close the current location at the end of business May 31.
"The vendors will move their stalls and goods around the corner in time to open at 10 a.m. June 1," Cipoletti said. "That will be our soft opening. A grand opening is planned for June 23."
He added, "Interestingly, the new space for us was originally built as a market/grocery store in the 1930s."
