Competitive balloon flights were held on Saturday morning surprised residents in the Widefield/Security area. The competitions are for pilots to practice their skills by dropping bean bags on targets. There were pilots competing from Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, Denver, New Mexico, Idaho, and Texas. They had planned two days of competition, but Saturday turned out to be the only day with the right wind conditions. (The Gazette/Jerilee Bennett)
