A 48-year-old man was killed Wednesday on U.S. 40 when a semi-tractor struck him, about 20 miles north of Kit Carson in Cheyenne County, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. when the unidentified man from La Grande, Ore., was walking eastbound on the shoulder and the semi hit him. The driver, 49-year-old Kenneth Raven of Bryan, Texas, may have fallen asleep at the wheel and was cited with careless driving resulting in death, state patrol said.
The victim's name was not released pending next-of-kin notification. Raven was not injured in the collision.
