Offense

If the Broncos are smart, each time they sack or intercept Kirk Cousins they'll help him to his feet and whisper sweet nothings into his ears. Call him Captain. Slip him a lifetime pass to the Glenwood Springs hot springs. Remind him he can join the rest of Michigan in moving here.

Advantage: Redskins

Defense

The Broncos put two players in the Pro Bowl. Von Miller and Aqib Talib should've been joined by Chris Harris Jr. But the bigger story — does the Pro Bowl count as a big story? — is how many offensive players were chosen: zero. My research says its the first time since 2007 that's happened.

Advantage: Broncos

Special teams

One under-the-radar move thats going to be interesting: will the Broncos retain wide receiver Cody Latimer? His rookie contract is up. But in a locker room long on alphas and short on glue guys, the Broncos should think twice about the special teams ace. Hes got a David Bruton vibe.

Advantage: Redskins

Coaching

The Darrent Williams Good Guy Award, given to the most media-responsible member of the Broncos, went to second-year safety Justin Simmons. (Always nice when its a young guy.) It could have gone to coach Vance Joseph, who, despite his team's struggles, remains polite and respectful.

Advantage: Redskins

Intangibles

Here, test the fandom level of your holiday guests with a quiz: Which non-AFC Westers are on the Broncos 2018 schedule? Home: Rams, Steelers, Seahawks, Browns. Road: Bengals, 49ers, Cardinals, Ravens. And two more (TBD). Sweet home slate, right? Plus Wade Phillips return.

Advantage: Broncos

Klees prediction: Broncos (+4) 17, Redskins 16 (Straight-up record: 10-4; ATS record: 10-4)
