ELLISVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Jackie Parker, a Jones County Junior College athletic star from 1950-1952, has been selected for induction into the Mississippi Community College Sports Hall of Fame.

A news release from the college says the ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. on April 29 at Hinds Community College in Pearl.

Parker and his wife, Peggy Jo, came to Jones County J.C. from Knoxville, Tenn. Peggy Jo played basketball and tennis for the school. Jackie Parker played football, basketball and baseball. In football, he helped the college win a 1951 state title. He later moved on to Mississippi State University, where he earned All-Southeastern Conference honors for two years.
