DENVER — The Denver couple accused of starving their four sons and keeping them in squalid conditions is due in court to face charges Tuesday morning.

The Denver Post reports that 66-year-old Wayne Sperling and 35-year-old Lorinda Bailey have each been charged with four counts of felony child abuse (http://bit.ly/19bu68H).

The children are 2, 4, 5 and 6. The affidavit released Monday says the boys weren't toilet trained and had no schooling of any kind. Rather, they spoke in "their own language" of grunts to each other.

Authorities found the children living in a residence full of cat and human feces, urine, and flies.

All four children have been placed in protective care.
