One person died after two vehicles collided Tuesday on Las Vegas Street near the Martin Luther King overpass, the Colorado State Patrol said.
A driver of a black coupe crossed the centerline of the road, heading north on Las Vegas Street beyond the underpass, and was hit by a recycling truck headed in the opposite direction, troopers said. The coupe was pinned between a guardrail and the recycling truck after the 9:30 a.m. collision.
The driver of the coupe was pronounced dead at the scene; the driver of the recycling truck sustained minor injuries.
Las Vegas Street north of Janitell and south of South Royer will remain closed for the investigation, the state patrol said.
Police did not name either driver pending notification of family.
