Julie Wetzel, one of three owners of The Parked Pierogi, 292 Colorado 105, Palmer Lake, is counting her blessings.
No sooner had she posted on the restaurant's Facebook that the eatery would close Feb. 28 than she was able to find a way to reopen March 7.
"We found an investor from our pool of customers and renegotiated with William Sherman (the owner of the building that was formerly Amuze Bistro) to reopen," she said.
Wetzel, with co-owners Nicole Schoenfeld and Christopher Williamson, are in full swing, offering their new breakfast, lunch and dinner items - such as grilled chicken and biscuits, a taco plate and, of course, a variety of pierogis. They are having a post-hangover St. Paddy's Day Dinner at 6:30 p.m. March 21. Cost is $35 per person for a five-course menu of roasted garlic corn O'Brian, corned beef hash egg rolls with Guinness BBQ sauce, potato pancakes with house-made apple sauce, standing rib roast with au jus and dessert. Winter hours are: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. In April or May, they plan to be open six days weekly. Details: 210-7029, parkedpierogi.com
The Apres Ski Cocktail Classic is headquartered in the Westin Snowmass Resort with some events in and around Aspen Snowmass Friday-Sunday. The weekend includes mountaintop parties, seminars, fireside chats, the Grand Tasting Village and the Great Apres-ski Pub Crawl. Ticket prices vary by event, running from $25 to $100. Helping the kids
The Fork & Bottle Auction, benefiting the Ruth Washburn Cooperative Nursery School, takes place at Colorado College's Edith Kinney Gaylord Cornerstone Arts Building, 825 N. Cascade Ave., 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Luigi's Restaurant owners Gina and Les Costley have added some new dishes to the menu and will offer a Lenten Special of tilapia in tomato, kalamata olive and caper sauce for $13.50 Fridays through Easter. Suzette and Kevin Megyeri, owners of Bambino's Italian Eatery and Sports Bar, have opened their second restaurant concept: Skirted Heifer, 204 N. Tejon St. (the former La Creperie).
Why call the burger place Skirted Heifer?
It's named for a signature burger served at their pizza eatery: a pile of cheddar cheese melted over a burger patty.
"It sticks out an inch and a half," Suzette Megyeri said. "That's the skirt."

Several restaurants have gone out of business, most notable the abrupt closing of The Craftwood Inn, 404 El Paso Blvd., Manitou Springs, on Sunday. Other closures include:
- Estela's Mexican Restaurant, 925 S. 8th St., has closed but their Pueblo eatery, the Mill Stop, 317 Bay State Ave., is still open.
- Metropolis Super Club, 1201 W. Colorado Ave., is closed.
