Colorado Springs police have confirmed that one man is dead and another 37-year-old man is in critical condition following a reported shooting Tuesday night in the 2500 block of East Bijou Street.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting at about 7:30 p.m.
Police would not say where the body was found, or if bullet casings were found around the scene.
One person who was inside Savannah's Bar and Grill, 2510 E. Bijou St., said everyone ran to the back of the building because someone was shooting in front of the building.
The shooter is believed to be driving a white car, possibly an Audi sedan, police said.
Bijou was closed in both directions for several hours between Parkside Drive and Balfour Avenue during the investigation.
A response to the shooting was posted on Savannah's Bar and Grill facebook page.
"Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about today’s unfortunate event." it said. "On behalf of Savannah's Bar & Grill and Staff I would like to say that our thoughts and prayers are with the families and lives affected during these difficult times.
"We would like to thank everyone who has expressed their concerns and support for our venue. Tonight’s incident was unrelated to the bar itself and we hope to keep it as enjoyable to you as it has been in the past. May we remember that life isn’t always guaranteed and should never be taken for granted. May we all continue to live to the fullest with a better view of tomorrow. -Savannah's"
A cause and manner of death will not be confirmed until an autopsy is completed. If ruled a homicide, this death will be the 10th in the city this year.
At this time last year, there were 13 homicides.
