A notebook with plans to harm Falcon Middle School students was turned in to administrators Monday.
A group of students at school found the notebook, labeled with a student’s name and containing content “suggestive of a plan to harm” peers, District 49 spokesman David Nancarrow said in a statement.
Administrators met with the student, the student’s parents and the school resource officer from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. The resource officer determined that the incident is isolated and poses no threat to students or staff.
The student was released under parental supervision.
“District 49 commends the responsibility demonstrated by the students who discovered the notebook and reported it to school leadership,” Nancarrow wrote. “The timely report activated the security measures the district relies on to maintain safety for our students and staff.”
