Midfielder/defender Johanna Hamblett is transferring to Colorado College following a strong freshman season at Mississippi State. She will join the Mountain West women's soccer program in August.

Hamblett started all 18 games for the Bulldogs in 2016 as a midfielder and led the newcomers with 1,520 minutes. She recorded the game-winning goal and added an assist in her college debut, a 2-0 victory at the College of Charleston. She also scored the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Alabama. Her two goals and five points were good for a tie for second on the Bulldogs.

The Christchurch, New Zealand native competed for the Mainland Pride in her native country's amateur National Women’s League. That team won the league championship in 2013 and 2014 and placed second in 2015. She also trained with the New Zealand U-20 national team in 2015.

The 5-foot-7 Hamblett is scheduled to make her CC debut on Aug. 18 when the Tigers host Northern Colorado at Stewart Field.
