Is Chipotle sending scare tactics with its latest website video?

A Nebraska farm group is accusing the popular burrito restaurant as doing just that.

According to the Lincoln (Neb.) Journal Star article published Oct. 22, the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation sees the 3-minute “The Scarecrow” video as an attack on agricultural production methods.

Chipotle spokeswoman Danielle Winslow told the Journal Star that the video, and an accompanying video game, is offered to educate the public on agricultural trends.

The Denver-based Chipotle asks website visitors to “Join the Scarecrow on his quest for better food”.  The video shows the Scarecrow walking through a food processing plant to a version of “Pure Imagination”, the popular Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory song. The video was posted Sept. 11.
