Oct. 8. 6 p.m. MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER TOWN HALL MEETING — The commanding officer of Marine Corps Air Station New River, Col. Timothy M. Salmon, hosts town hall meeting for service members, Defense Department employees and their families at the Air Station Theater. The meeting features a panel of subject matter experts who will address issues such as ongoing construction, housing, base schools, medical and Marine Corps Community Services. Media wishing to cover this event should call or email no later than Oct. 7 and be prepared to meet at 5:15 at New River's Main Gate Visitor Center parking lot. While Col. Salmon will not take questions from the media during the meeting, he will be available for interviews shortly afterward.

Oct. 8. 7 p.m. COMMUNITY FORUM ON SCHOOL CHOICE, CHARTERS AND VOUCHERS — The Forsyth Education Partnership hosts community forum to focus on issues involving school choice, charter schools and vouchers. Participants at the forum will include education officials and academics.
