This cherished land at The Farm has been enjoyed by the Allison family for seven decades. John Allison purchased the land, now known as The Farm, back in 1947; and then used the land to raise his thoroughbred racehorses and exotic cattle. The ponds – fed by Black Squirrel Creek – are named after his daughters. La Plata carried on the history of the racehorses by naming the streets after famous horses. The Allison family savored four joy-filled generations of growing vegetables, raising trout and tending to their horses and cattle. In 2013, John Allison’s daughter and grandchildren decided it was time to share the pristine and uplifting landscape with others.
