The name of a Colorado Springs motorcycle officer who died in a traffic crash last year is now on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The name of Matt Tyner and 119 other officers who died in the line of duty in 2012 were formally dedicated during a candlelight vigil Monday. Members of the Colorado Springs Police Department's Honor Guard attended the ceremony.

"It's a great honor, and it's a great honor for our Honor Guard to be there to represent the department and to honor Matt," Detective Rob Meredith said Thursday.

Seven of the 10 Honor Guard members were featured Thursday on the front page of the New York Times in a photograph with President Barack Obama. The officers in the photo are Sgt. Olav Chaney and officers Alan Roman, Shawn Peterson, Gina Seago, Pam Farmer, Justin Keown and Martin Herrera.
