WASHINGTON (AP) — The American Alliance of Museums is honoring two lawmakers on Capitol Hill for their support of U.S. museums.

On Tuesday, the museum group is honoring Sen. Tom Udall of New Mexico, along with Rep. Michael Grimm of New York, for their support of U.S. museums. The recognition coincides with the museum group's Museum Advocacy Day in Congress.

Museum professionals from across the country will visit lawmakers Tuesday to urge support for museum and arts funding.

The American Alliance of Museums says Udall has been a leader in supporting funding for the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities, despite budget cuts. The group says Grimm has been a leading supporter of the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
