Michael and Jean Blaisdell have cleared as many as 1000 trees on their ten acre wooded-property outside of Woodland Park over the nearly fifty years they have owned it. They stand here, about fifty yards from their home, along their property line that borders Pikes National Forest, Thursday, july 21, 2016. There's 4 acres of heavily-treed hillside that is a wildfire hazard. It will cost the Blaisdell's about $10,000 to thin out. The forest service has given them the OK and they are working on grant money for fire mitigation to help out. CAROL LAWRENCE, THE GAZETTE
