The possessor of Colorado liquor license No. 1 (issued after prohibition), the Buckhorn Exchange was founded in 1893 by Henry H. Zeitz who, as a member of “Buffalo Bill” Cody’s band of scouts, was dubbed “Shorty Scout” by famed Chief Sitting Bull. Today, the Buckhorn Exchange is adorned with museum-quality memorabilia from both the old west and the endless line of celebrities and dignitaries that have frequented it.
