With "Saturday Night Live," the hit stoner movie "Half Baked" and stand-up shows on Comedy Central, you would think Jim Breuer would have an ego. You would be wrong though, as Breuer is just a normal guy whose life consists of his family, '80s metal music and stand-up comedy.

Breuer plays Arnold Hall Theater at the Air Force Academy on Friday.

The year 1998 was big for Breuer: He introduced himself to a whole new set of fans with the comedy "Half Baked." The movie, which also stars Dave Chappelle, revolves around three stoners attempting to get a friend out of jail. Although the film brought Breuer fame, it also brought typecasting.

"They remember me as Goat Boy (from 'SNL') and 'Half Baked,'" said Breuer. "But when they see me live, they see that my stand-up is the A game. My A-plus-plus game is stand-up comedy."

The transition wasn't easy though, because many of the fans expected Breuer to be the same hilarious stoner that he was in the movie.

"When I started doing the stand-up style that I do now, I went pretty clean. In 2008, I had some stoners come up to me, and they said they had more respect for me after seeing me and that they wanted to grow up and start a family."

That interaction would not have been possible without Breuer's resistance to being labeled - and Bill Cosby.

"Bill Cosby comes to me (on Breuer's radio show) and says I can be inspiring, and says I can get back to my roots, and Jerry Seinfeld (did), too. The two biggest guys come up and give you encouragement for no reason but to see you succeed."
