Andrew Rush set up Brandon Herd’s power-play goal just 3 minutes, 47 seconds into the action.
Palmer then saw Mullen tie the game midway through the opening period before Matt Byerly scored twice to give the Mustangs a 3-1 advantage to start the second.
Herd scored his second goal - this one an even-strength effort assisted by Eric Olson - to pull Palmer within a goal early in the second period.
The Mustangs closed the game by scoring six unanswered goals, including Byerly’s fourth score, a shorthanded effort.
Despite the lopsided final score, Mullen only owned a 35-34 advantage in shots.
Alex Gaye made 16 saves for the Terrors, allowing six goals for a .727 save percentage before Sean Bolduc closed out the game by making 10 saves in 13 opportunities (.769).
Mullen scored on its only power play opportunity, while Palmer went 1-4.
Palmer dropped to 1-14 on the season.
