Mitchell High coach Cayla De George declined to discuss in detail her team’s 101-7 defeat to Sierra.

“I don’t really want to get into that debate,” De George said of Sierra’s margin of victory. “The stuff that we control we didn’t do well, and I think that’s where my focus is.

“We’re not concerned about what the score was, at the end of the day. That wasn’t what our biggest focus was. We focus on what we need to be doing and doing better. That’s our focus. Not on whether they ran the score up.”

The Gazette requested an interview with Mitchell captain Renee Taylor. Mitchell athletic director Brett Williams declined the request.

“That game was on Thursday and it’s Saturday,” Williams said over the weekend. “We’re just getting the opportunity to move forward.”

The Sierra defeat, Williams said, is “in the past.”
