GRAND JUNCTION — Grand Junction police say a man ran off with a Missouri woman's pet monkey that she was trying to sell.
Police say they man pepper-sprayed the woman in the face and fled on foot with the carrier holding the monkey at about 6 a.m. Monday. The Daily Sentinel reports (http://goo.gl/NnmkVL ) that the woman had traveled to Grand Junction to meet with the potential buyer in the parking lot of a local hotel.
The monkey, a black cap Capuchin, is illegal to have in Colorado.
Police are looking for a man they say is described as Middle Eastern, 5 feet 5 inches tall and between 35 to 40 years old. Police say he was wearing glasses, has a thin build, and a short beard.
