The death of a man whose body was found Monday afternoon behind a drug store has been ruled a homicide, Colorado Springs police said Tuesday.

The victim was shot to death, according to police spokeswoman Barbara Miller. The body, which police said had sustained traumatic injuries, was discovered about 2:20 p.m. near the intersection of Academy Boulevard and South Chelton Road.

"A positive identification of the victim has not been made by the coroner at this time," Miller said in an email.

This homicide marks the 16th in the city this year.
