With the final hurdle cleared, Maggie's Farm is set to open the first recreational marijuana store in El Paso County.

Maggie's Farm owner Bill Conkling announces late last week that he hoped top open the Manitou Springs marijuana store on Thursday. And the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department gave Conkling and his business the go-ahead Tuesday when the store passed its final inspection, according to Roger Lovell of PPRBD.

Wade Burkholder, the Manitou Springs planning director, said Conkling received his local business license Monday.

Conkling's store at 141 Manitou Ave. will be a dual-purpose operation. He will have the recreational pot business alongside a medical marijuana dispensary. Maggie's Farm also has medical dispensaries in Colorado Springs and Cañon City and two recreational stores in Pueblo County.
