A man who was found dead a week ago in the parking lot of an apartment complex in southeast Colorado Springs has been identified as Efrain Murillo-Mejia, 32, of Honduras, Colorado Springs police said Monday.

Murillo-Mejia died from stab wounds, and his death has been ruled a homicide, police said.

His body was discovered Jan. 28 in the parking lot of the El Vecino Apartments at 1802 Monterey Road. Police said they had a difficult time making a positive identity because he was from Honduras.

This was the city's second homicide of 2014.
