A 27-year-old man was stabbed in the chest early Wednesday morning in the 4200 block of Crowells Mill Square in southeast Colorado Springs, police said.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Despite a search of the area by several officers and a police dog, the suspect was able to get away and remains on the loose.

The stabbing happened about 12:40 a.m. Police said the victim, who suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, was stabbed in the upper chest. He also had an injury to his face.
