The two men involved in a shooting at Sin City Disciples Club early Wednesday morning aren’t making it easy for investigators.

Neither is cooperating with police.

One man was shot in the hip and taken to Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was not arrested.

Colorado Springs police responded to the shooting at about 3:10 a.m. at 628 W. Vermijo St. A 32-year-old male was conscious and breathing when police arrived. The wound did not appear life threatening, according to police.

The suspect had driven away in a dark Chevrolet Tahoe. Detectives from CSPD's major crimes unit are investigating.

The site of the New Year shooting had a violent 2012.

Six men were charged in the fatal shooting of Virgil Means outside the clubhouse March 3. One of those charged, DeAngelo Michael Wells, 24, pleaded guilty Nov. 7 to tampering with evidence in the case.

Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 10 before 4th Judicial District Judge William Bain.

Five other men await trial in the shooting death, including Fort Carson soldier Christopher Mountjoy, 31, who faces first-degree murder charges on suspicion of firing the fatal bullet.

During a pre-trial hearing in September, one of Mountjoy’s court-appointed attorneys, Cindy Hyatt, said she intends to argue the Afghanistan war veteran was suffering the effects of post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury.

Mountjoy, of Fountain, is scheduled for a Feb. 4 trial.

Police say Means, 31, had been beaten by a group of men outside the club and was returning to retrieve a missing wallet when he was ambushed by several Sin City gunmen in a coordinated attack.

Three of the five defendants were active-duty Fort Carson soldiers.

The Sin City Disciples motorcycle club is a so-called “one percenter” club of outlaw bikers similar to the Colorado-based Sons of Silence, a former recruit told police. Their clubhouse is at the end of a commercial cul-de-sac and routinely hosts after-hours parties for members when bars close down.
