An 18-year-old shot his friend in the arm Tuesday while showing off his father's .45 caliber handgun, Colorado Springs police said.

The 20-year-old victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said.

The 1 p.m. shooting happened in a residence on the 3600 block of Deep Haven Drive, off Rangewood Drive and south of Research Parkway, according to police reports.

Police said the round went through the victim's arm, then struck and lodged in the parents' bedroom window frame.

The shooting is under investigation.
