BRIGHTON — A man convicted of sexually assaulting a 55-year-old woman at a group home for mentally ill patients in Aurora has been sentenced to 10 years to life in prison.

The Adams County District Attorney's Office says 50-year-old William Jesse Rattler was sentenced Wednesday. He was convicted in May of sexually assaulting an at-risk adult.

Prosecutors say Rattler, who was operating an unlicensed home for mentally ill patients with his wife, told the victim not to tell anyone what happened and threatened to have her kicked out of the home.

Rattler was charged with two counts of sexual assault on an at-risk victim involving two women who were living at the home. The jury convicted him of one count but acquitted him of the other.
