A man was found dead and a girl wounded early Saturday morning in southeast Colorado Springs after a report of shots fired, according to police.

Police responded to an apartment complex at 960 Chapman Dr. around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, finding the dead male and the girl. The female’s gunshot wound was non-life threatening, police said.

"I just want it to be over," said one female resident, who said residents heard shots fired Thursday night around the building corner from the apartment where the man was found dead Saturday. Two police showed up to investigate Thursday night, but nothing was filed.

Seven police vehicles were at the crime scene around 6 a.m., one resident, Rhonda, said.

Police were still collecting evidence at the crime scene around 11 a.m. Saturday, taking several photos of evidence scattered on a small strip of grass in front of the apartment.

Members of their Violent Crimes Unit are still investigating, police said, and no additional info has been released.

Those with info on the case can call police at 444-7000 or Pikes Peak Area Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP (7867).
