A man was arrested late Thursday morning after allegedly speeding away from police, crashing and then fleeing on foot through a nearby fire station, Colorado Springs police said.

Police said John Krulik, 27, was clocked driving 61 mph in a 36 mph zone near the intersection of Centennial Boulevard and Wickes Road in northwest Colorado Springs.

A motorcycle patrol officer was in pursuit of the car, a 2007 Subaru stolen out of Denver, when it turned into a neighborhood in the Mountain Shadows area, police said.

When the patrol officer came across the car again, it was on its side and resting against a light pole at the intersection of Allegheny Drive and Joiner Road. Police said a tractor trailer truck hit the Subaru after it turned in front of it.

Police said the pursuit continued when the driver got out of the car and ran through a fire station.

The officer found the man hiding near a town home complex on Alpine Shadows View, police said.

Krulik was arrested on suspicion of aggravated motor vehicle theft, first degree criminal trespass, numerous traffic related offenses, and outstanding warrants, police said.

He was treated at the hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer truck was not injured, police said.
