DENVER — Authorities have released the name of a man accused of shooting the manager of a Denver retirement home before turning the gun on himself.

The Denver medical examiner's office says 65-year-old Bennie Mendez died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say Mendez, who lived at the complex called Metro Manor, shot and critically wounded the manager Thursday before killing himself. Mendez' relatives told The Denver Post (http://bit.ly/1bxctDK ) he had issues with staff because he did not like them going into his room.

Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez declined to release the manager's name.
