A man jumped out of a moving vehicle Monday during a police chase near downtown Colorado Springs, police said.

The unidentified driver of a pickup truck took police on a short pursuit about 3 a.m. when they tried to stop the vehicle near the intersection of North Wahsatch Avenue and East Kiowa Street, according to police reports.

Officers pursuing the pickup discovered the license plate had been reported stolen out of Pueblo, and watched as a passenger jumped out near the intersection of East Fountain Boulevard and Hancock Expressway and the driver fled.

The passenger was identifed and released for care at a hospital for non life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police recovered the truck nearby Alexander Road and East Monument Street, but did not find the driver.

Anyone with information can call police at 444-7000.
