Colorado Springs fire crews rushed to rescue a man Friday who fell about 100 feet down a slope near Gold Camp Road.

According to Julie Smith, a city spokeswoman, two engines and a fire truck were called to the area in western Colorado Springs to perform the high-angle rescue. Firefighters were still working to bring the man to safety at about 2:30 p.m.

Smith said the man suffered minor injuries and was expected to walk away from the incident once crews were able to pull him up the steep slope using ropes and a "basket."
