The Colorado Springs man is in jail after the SWAT team was called to an early-morning domestic dispute near Powers and Stetson Hills boulevards.

Police responded to a home in the 5900 block of Faxon Court shortly before 4 a.m. Wednesday when a woman, whose name was not released, arrived at the Stetson Hills substation saying her husband had made a murder-suicide threat.

When she tried to leave, Marc Fahrlander, 43, threw her to the ground and removed the battery from her phone, police said in a report. She was able to get out of the home and go to the police station.

When officers arrived Fahrlander refused to leave the house, and the SWAT team was called in just after 5 a.m.

They negotiated with the suspect until he gave himself up, Lt. Brian Ritz said.

Fahrlander had access to a gun, but was unarmed when he emerged from the home, Ritz said.   Fahrlander was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing. The couple's five children, ranging from 1 to 9 years of age, were removed from the home, and no one involved in the disturbance was injured, Ritz said.
