A 19-year-old man was in critical condition Tuesday morning after his motorcycle struck a pickup truck near Astrozon and South Academy boulevards Monday night, officials for Memorial Health Systems said.

Victor Rodriguez was apparently driving a motorcycle southbound on Academy Boulevard when a Ford pickup truck allegedly turned left in front of him, Colorado Springs police said. The motorcycle hit the right front of the truck and Rodriguez was launched into the windshield, a CSPD blotter report said.

The crash was reported to police just after 10 p.m.

Rodriguez was taken to Memorial Hospital Central. The driver of the truck, Anthony Caballero, was cited for careless driving resulting in injury and other traffic offenses, police said.
