Man hit, killed by car in southwest Denver

DENVER — Authorities are investigating after a man was hit and killed by a car in southwest Denver.

Denver police spokesman Sgt. Steve Warneke says the man, whose name and age have not been released, was hit at the intersection of Evans Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard just after 9 p.m. Saturday. It's unclear if he was lying in the road or crossing it when he was struck.

The Denver Post reports (http://bit.ly/1gqymAC ) the driver who hit the man stayed at the scene.

Police have not released any other details about the accident.
