A man thwarted a robbery Monday in Colorado Springs by discreetly calling 911 as he drove to a cash advance store with his robbers in the vehicle, police said.

Police received two 911 calls about 3:45 p.m. from a man who said he was being robbed.

Officers located the victim and "several suspects" at Ace Cash Express, 893 N. Academy Blvd., police said.

The initial investigation revealed that the victim was assaulted and forced into his vehicle at a home near Austin Bluffs Parkway and Dublin Boulevard, police said.

"The victim was then forced to drive to the Ace Cash Express in an attempt to get money," police said. "The victim was able to discreetly call 911 while en-route."

Police said several people have been detained, but they aren't releasing any more information at this point, saying they're "right in the middle" of the investigation.
