IDAHO SPRINGS — Authorities say a 41-year-old man died after he fell from a raft in Clear Creek near Idaho Springs.

Idaho Springs Police Chief Dave Wohlers tells KUSA-TV (http://on9news.tv/1uBEnnS ) that Kenneth Joe Barkley was rafting with his wife, teenage daughter and others when another raft in front of them tipped over Saturday afternoon. Barkley, who was wearing a life vest and helmet, fell into the water and was recovered several miles downstream. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Wohlers says the cause of death has not been determined, but Barkley's family says he does not have a medical condition.

KUSA-TV requested to speak with the on-site manager of Highside Adventure Tours, which was operating the trip, but was told the company had no immediate comment.
