A 21-year-old man who stepped outside Saturday night to pull his trash cans off the curb was beaten and robbed when he refused to give a gunman his wallet.

The man suffered minor injuries during the robbery, which happened shortly before 9:45 p.m. in the 2100 block of Kodiak Drive in southeast Colorado Springs, according to Colorado Springs police.

As the man walked in front of his home, a man wearing a bandana across his face approached him and demanded his wallet, police said. When he refused, the robber pulled out a gun and hit the man in the face with the weapon. He took the contents of the man’s wallet, police said.
