Colorado Springs police arrested a man after long standoff Tuesday during which he allegedly barricaded himself and a hostage inside an apartment.

Michael Victor Quirova, 20, was booked into the El Paso County jail and held on a $50,000 bond, court records show.

About 2:45 p.m., police surrounded the Fir Tree Apartments, 3805 Radiant Dr., after receiving a report of a wanted armed and dangerous felon, identified as Quirova, who was spotted entering the complex.

Quirova ignored officers' orders to exit the apartment and the SWAT team joined the standoff, as nearby residents were evacuated, police said.

The situation escalated when police discovered Quirova was allegedly holding a woman against her will. SWAT members forced their way in about 9:30 p.m.

The woman, whose identity was not revealed, was safely removed and Quirova was taken into custody without incident.

Apartment residents were allowed to return to their homes shortly after 10 p.m.

According to court records, Quirova was wanted on suspicion of drug possession and vehicular eluding from Oct. 30.

Quirova's next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
