Colorado Springs police arrested a man they said punched an officer in the face Friday night.
While investigating another call at about 5:45 p.m. at the Econo Lodge at 714 N. Nevada Ave., police were told by concerned citizen about a possible fight in a nearby room. Police made contact with the occupants in the room and determined the fight could be a domestic violence situation.
As police talked with those in the room, one of the residents, Jesse Gonzalez, "became combative," police said. Before police were able to handcuff him, Gonzalez punched one of the officers twice on the side of the head and in the face, police reports say.
He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault on a peace officer.
The officer was treated at the hotel for minor facial injuries. No other injuries were reported.
