Colorado Springs police arrested a man Monday after he allegedly stole merchandise from a Macy's department store, injured a store employee and tried to lie about his identity.

Dustin Harper, 33, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and booked into the El Paso County jail, records show. According to court records, there had been two other arrest warrants issued for Harper on theft charges.

A security employee at the Macy's on 1750 Briargate Blvd. stopped a man when he tried to leave the store about 7:45 p.m. without paying for merchandise, police said. The shoplifter resisted and the Macy's employee suffered a minor cut to his upper lip during an altercation, police said.

Harper intially gave police a false name, but later came clean and officers discovered the two arrest warrants issued for him, according to police reports.
