A man was arrested with the help of two police dogs Wednesday evening after he allegedly tried to steal a car and then ran, Colorado Springs police said.

Tony Martin was arrested after police said they pursued him through a neighborhood near Union Boulevard and Willamette Avenue.

While police could not locate either a victim or witness to the alleged carjacking attempt, one person in the area was able to direct officers to where they had last seen the suspect.

Martin was caught after officers surrounded the area and with the help of police dogs, trapped him in the stairwell of a duplex, police said.

Martin was wanted on felony and misdemeanor warrants unrelated to the call and was booked into the El Paso County jail, police said.
