A 22-year-old man was arrested Sunday after an alleged domestic violence assault at a local hospital.

Colorado Springs Police took Edwin Figueroa into custody on suspicion of multiple crimes after the reported assault led to an arrest warrant, a search of Figueroa's home and a standoff at a vacant residence nearby.

Figueroa, who had been arrested as recently as Feb. 11 for alleged assault on the same person, ran from his home in the 1200 block of Sorrento Drive with two others early Sunday afternoon. According to police, officers almost had the man's home surrounded when the three ran to the residence next door. The CSPD Tactical Enforcement Unit was called in and a police dog was used to find where the three were hiding.

Figueroa was taken to the El Paso County jaicq on suspicion of charges related to Sunday's assault. He was still at the jail early Monday morning. The two others were arrested on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespass.
