Police arrested Jay Ray Moody, 37, on suspicion of menacing and possession of a weapon by a previous offender after he allegedly pointed a gun at people inside a vehicle Saturday night.

At about 9:29 p.m., a man approached a car at the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Barnes Road and threatened the occupants at gunpoint, Colorado Springs police said.

A man matching witnesses' descriptions was spotted walking along Austin Bluffs Parkway shortly after, police said. He was identifed as Moody.

Officers chased Moody briefly and took him into custody. A gun was reportedly found near the area where he ran from police.

Moody was booked into the El Paso County jail and held on a $2,000 bond, court records show.
