Man allegedly lights grass on fire, arrested in arson, child abuse

Intentionally lit paper thrown on the ground by an adult who lives at 3510 Lenoso Terrace ignited a fire outside the home Saturday afternoon, according to Colorado Springs police.

The fire burned a small 150-square-foot patch of dry grass before the Colorado Springs Fire Department extinguished it. Police arrested Mark Lapierre, 52, on suspicion of arson and child abuse.

No one was injured and no buildings were damaged, according to police.
