A man who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted Monday night told investigators that his male assailant initially asked him for ride and threatened to kill him if he didn't comply, police said.

The kidnapping happened at Garden of the Gods Road and 30th Street, where the victim said a man told him that he had run out of gas and then demanded a ride, Colorado Springs police said.

The man was ordered to drive to a location believed to be somewhere along Gold Camp Road where he was sexually assaulted, police said.

The victim escaped several hours later, after he and the suspect drove to the King Soopers at West Fillmore Street and Centennial Boulevard, police said.
