Colorado Springs police are looking for a man suspected of writing unauthorized checks and then asking people to deposit them into their bank accounts.

Authorities said Jaylen Alexander Mitchell, 20, allegedly befriends an acquaintance and asks them to deposit an unauthorized check, which he tells them is payment for a recently sold car.

According to police, Mitchell tells his victims that he doesn't have an ID or bank account to cash the check. As part of the scam, the victim deposits the check and then withdraws cash for Mitchell. When a bank learns the check is bad, it holds the account holder responsible.

According to police, Mitchell, who also goes by the aliases Jaylen Ross and Ross Mafioso, is known to frequent the area near Fountain Boulevard and Chelton Road.

Anyone with additional information can call Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP (7867)
